Posters and Images

The Conservative Party Archive is home to an unparalleled collection of Conservative political campaign posters.  The collection starts from 1886 and runs to the present day.  The poster archive makes a fascinating collection, reflecting both political priorities, social mores and the changing stylistic face of political campaigning.

Many and varied styles can be seen, each reflecting succinctly the period of their use.  From hand-painted caricatures and cartoon-based images in the first half of the 20th century to the birth of the hard-hitting media savvy posters created by Saatchi & Saatchi in the 1970s.

The poster images are used widely in a range of media from academic books on specific aspects of political history to backdrops in period television dramas and films.
